Functions

ssize_t explain_pwrite_on_error (int fildes, const void *data, size_t data_size, off_t offset)

Function Documentation

ssize_t explain_pwrite_on_error ( int  fildes,
const void *  data,
size_t  data_size,
off_t  offset
)

The explain_pwrite_on_error function is used to call the pwrite(2) system call. On failure an explanation will be printed to stderr, obtained from the explain_pwrite(3) function.

Parameters:
fildesThe fildes, exactly as to be passed to the pwrite(2) system call.
dataThe data, exactly as to be passed to the pwrite(2) system call.
data_sizeThe data_size, exactly as to be passed to the pwrite(2) system call.
offsetThe offset, exactly as to be passed to the pwrite(2) system call.
Returns:
The value returned by the wrapped pwrite(2) system call.
Example:
This function is intended to be used in a fashion similar to the following example:
 ssize_t result = explain_pwrite_on_error(fildes, data, data_size, offset);
 if (result < 0)
 {
     ...cope with error
     ...no need to print error message
 }
