Functions

int explain_fseeko_on_error (FILE *fp, off_t offset, int whence)
void explain_fseeko_or_die (FILE *fp, off_t offset, int whence)

Function Documentation

int explain_fseeko_on_error ( FILE *  fp,
off_t  offset,
int  whence
)

The explain_fseeko_on_error function is used to call the fseeko(3) system call. On failure an explanation will be printed to stderr, obtained from the explain_fseeko(3) function.

Parameters:
fpThe fp, exactly as to be passed to the fseeko(3) system call.
offsetThe offset, exactly as to be passed to the fseeko(3) system call.
whenceThe whence, exactly as to be passed to the fseeko(3) system call.
Returns:
The value returned by the wrapped fseeko(3) system call.
Example:
This function is intended to be used in a fashion similar to the following example:
 if (explain_fseeko_on_error(fp, offset, whence) < 0)
 {
     ...cope with error
     ...no need to print error message
 }

void explain_fseeko_or_die ( FILE *  fp,
off_t  offset,
int  whence
)

The explain_fseeko_or_die function is used to call the fseeko(3) system call. On failure an explanation will be printed to stderr, obtained from the explain_fseeko(3) function, and then the process terminates by calling exit(EXIT_FAILURE).

Parameters:
fpThe fp, exactly as to be passed to the fseeko(3) system call.
offsetThe offset, exactly as to be passed to the fseeko(3) system call.
whenceThe whence, exactly as to be passed to the fseeko(3) system call.
Returns:
This function only returns on success, see fseeko(3) for more information. On failure, prints an explanation and exits, it does not return.
Example:
This function is intended to be used in a fashion similar to the following example:
 explain_fseeko_or_die(fp, offset, whence);
