Functions

void explain_acl_set_file_or_die (const char *pathname, acl_type_t type, acl_t acl)
int explain_acl_set_file_on_error (const char *pathname, acl_type_t type, acl_t acl)

Function Documentation

int explain_acl_set_file_on_error ( const char *  pathname,
acl_type_t  type,
acl_t  acl
)

The explain_acl_set_file_on_error function is used to call the acl_set_file(3) system call. On failure an explanation will be printed to stderr, obtained from the explain_acl_set_file(3) function.

Parameters:
pathnameThe pathname, exactly as to be passed to the acl_set_file(3) system call.
typeThe type, exactly as to be passed to the acl_set_file(3) system call.
aclThe acl, exactly as to be passed to the acl_set_file(3) system call.
Returns:
The value returned by the wrapped acl_set_file(3) system call.
Example:
This function is intended to be used in a fashion similar to the following example:
 if (explain_acl_set_file_on_error(pathname, type, acl) < 0)
 {
     ...cope with error
     ...no need to print error message
 }

void explain_acl_set_file_or_die ( const char *  pathname,
acl_type_t  type,
acl_t  acl
)

The explain_acl_set_file_or_die function is used to call the acl_set_file(3) system call. On failure an explanation will be printed to stderr, obtained from the explain_acl_set_file(3) function, and then the process terminates by calling exit(EXIT_FAILURE).

Parameters:
pathnameThe pathname, exactly as to be passed to the acl_set_file(3) system call.
typeThe type, exactly as to be passed to the acl_set_file(3) system call.
aclThe acl, exactly as to be passed to the acl_set_file(3) system call.
Returns:
This function only returns on success, see acl_set_file(3) for more information. On failure, prints an explanation and exits, it does not return.
Example:
This function is intended to be used in a fashion similar to the following example:
 explain_acl_set_file_or_die(pathname, type, acl);
