Function Documentation

int explain_mkostemp_on_error	(	char *	pathname,
		int	flags
	)

The explain_mkostemp_on_error function is used to call the mkostemp(3) system call. On failure an explanation will be printed to stderr, obtained from the explain_mkostemp(3) function.

Parameters:

pathname	The template, exactly as to be passed to the mkostemp(3) system call. The last six characters of template must be "XXXXXX" and these are replaced with a string that makes the filename unique. Since it will be modified, template must not be a string constant, but should be declared as a character array.
flags	The flags, exactly as to be passed to the mkostemp(3) system call.

Returns:

The value returned by the wrapped mkostemp(3) system call.

Example:

This function is intended to be used in a fashion similar to the following example:

 int result = explain_mkostemp_on_error(pathname, flags);
 if (result < 0)
 {
     ...cope with error
     ...no need to print error message
 }
